Add Volume and Lift to Reduce Wrinkles in Toronto

Our skin is constantly exposed to stressors from the external environment and is affected by the normal aging process, as well as inherited genes. Wrinkles are a normal part of aging but if they bother you, there are cosmetic treatments available to lessen the appearance of these creases, ridges, and folds. You can treat them with Radiesse® from Toronto’s Avebelle Cosmetic Clinic. Radiesse® is the first and only portfolio of injectable fillers that are made with calcium-based microspheres and provide both instants as well as long-term enhancements.

What is Radiesse®?

Radiesse® is an injectable collagen stimulator filler. Its main active ingredient, calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) in the form of calcium microspheres, is a mineral-like compound that is similar to the calcium found in human bones and teeth. When injected, Radiesse® not only instantly adds fullness to the skin in areas that are thin or lacking in volume but also encourages the production of natural collagen.

Its gel-like carrier provides volumizing effects while CaHA encourages the skin to produce more of its on collagen as time goes on. When the CaHA is eventually absorbed back into the skin, the new collagen remains in place. Radiesse® is approved for the treatment of moderate to severe wrinkles and to add structure to the cheeks and jawline. This injectable provides longer lasting results in comparison to hyaluronic acid fillers.

Which Wrinkles Can Be Treated with Radiesse®?

Collagen and elastin are two of the main building blocks of healthy skin. These proteins work together to provide strength, firmness, and elasticity to the skin. When we’re younger, our skin contains an abundance of them and that’s what gives it such a bouncy, supple appearance. Our skin gradually loses some of this elastic tissue (elastin) and collagen as we age, causing it to become thinner and looser. Exposure to air pollution, ultraviolet radiation, cigarette smoke and other stressors also results in ongoing damage to the skin. As the skin becomes thinner, drier, and less elastic, it is less capable of protecting itself from harm, so wrinkles start to develop.

Static wrinkles, which are ones that remain etched on to the face during expressions and while at rest, are caused by the depletion of collagen and other substances from the skin. Radiesse® and most other injectable dermal fillers are designed for minimizing moderate to severe static wrinkles on the center and lower two-thirds of the face, such as nasolabial folds. Radiesse® also helps to enhance the contours of the chin, cheeks, and jawline. It can be used to address volume loss on the backs of the hands and is injected in a hyperdiluted form to improve the neck or correct facial skin laxity.

Results and Recovery from Radiesse®

One of the main benefits of this treatment is that the results are immediately noticeable. Recovery time is minimal, but patients may experience some minor, short-term side effects including swelling, tenderness, itching, bruising, and redness at the injection site for a few days.

Patients can go back to their normal activities – with some exceptions – immediately after this treatment. Very little post-treatment care is necessary. You should avoid heavy exercise for several days after injections and avoid placing too much pressure on the treatment areas during the first forty-eight hours. The results from Radiesse® last anywhere from eighteen to twenty-four months on average.

Are There Treatments That Complement Radiesse®?

There are other cosmetic injectable fillers that provide similar results. Sculptra® is a collagen stimulator injection with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) as its primary ingredient that provides long-lasting volumizing effects.

Dermal fillers like Radiesse® and Sculptra® treat static wrinkles but botulinum toxin injectables are the recommended treatment option for wrinkles that are associated with repetitive facial expressions. Avebelle Cosmetic Clinic offers Botox® are Dysport® for correcting dynamic wrinkles. These minimally invasive injectable treatments contain botulinum toxin as their active ingredient and work by temporarily relaxing specific facial muscles.
